Text to SVG
If you want to generate plain SVG from a custom text snippet that uses a font from Google Fonts, there's a great web application that does exactly this (link also in the addendum at the end of the page).
The app is called "google-font-to-svg-path" and provides a simple interface to type your text, define a font size as well as font family, among some other options. When you're ready, you can then simply convert the text to a valid SVG.
